Creative Paper Art Landscapes with Laurie Carswell

  • ArtUs Co. 10000 Research Boulevard Austin, TX, 78759 United States (map)

Class Description: Come join Creative Paper Artist Laurie Carswell and cut and glue a pocket-view landscape. You may cut sky blues out of denim ads and tear creamy white clouds out of wedding dresses! The options for individual style and creativity are endless.

Laurie's paper art uses cut magazine pieces like a painter would use paint to build a playful landscape. During this three hour workshop, she will present the fundamentals of her process and give you a few helpful principles of color theory so you can complete your own landscape collage based on a photograph of your choice.

You go home with a finished piece ready to display and a gift from the Artist!

What to bring: Magazines= optional, your own scissors= helpful, but optional, imagination!

No pre-requisite art skills needed, it is a great class for beginners and beyond. Just scissors and glue!

Laurie Carswell is an Austin studio artist who applies her theatre design and sculpture background to build landscapes, portraits and florals out of cut up recycled papers like magazines, old calendars, withdrawn library books and catalogues. "Painting with paper" she creates engaging visual stories rich with color and hidden treasures.
