Class Description: This workshop will be an intro to the world of personal writing from professional essayist Jade Fabello. By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with no less than three immediately applicable and tangible techniques to improve their day-to-day writing. Fabello aims to teach an understanding of broader cultural assumptions that create difficulties in our writing journeys, as well as help students achieve the confidence and technical know-how to begin the process of pitching a story to a publication.

About the Instructor
Jade Fabello is a professional freelance writer based out of Austin, Texas. A former political public speaker, Jade made the switch to writing so that he could better represent his core values and create honest work. He has written for Texas Monthly, Austin Monthly, Thrillist, Study Hall XYZ, the Brown Journal of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, Batshit Times, and more. He specializes in personal essays about politics, race, art, grief, and love. A graduate of the University of Texas with degrees in Journalism and Communication & Leadership, Jade was also the Senior Print Editor for Spark Magazine, a local Austin fashion publication. There, he led dozens of writing workshops and edited hundreds of stories across four issues.
