“The Mind is a Fertile” – William Penn Patrick (March 31, 1930 – June 9, 1973) was an American entrepreneur and businessman. He was the owner of Holiday Magic, Leadership Dynamics, and Mind Dynamics. Patrick was a proponent of the sour grapes philosophy, and has been widely quoted as stating: “Those who condemn wealth are those who have none and see no chance of getting it.”
Works in the exhibition “The Mind is a Fertile Field” are derived from the purview of day to day consumer habits. Dale’s interest lies in producers’ response to markets of human impulse, perceived need and the mundane-to-grandiose fantasies we entertain. Single use items of mass consumption and objects of little significance are elevated to mirror the importance of a highly desired, possibly life changing acquisition.
Unlock your true potential, affirming what you’ve known all along: that you are a great, great individual, like no other. The mind is a fertile field and the body a vessel to move within and around all of its keepings, deposits and residue. The resulting gamut is tragic in scope, merry with familiarity, fatigued by saturation.
ABOUT AUBREE DALE
Aubree Dale is a visual artist based in Austin, TX. Solo and group exhibitions include multiple locations throughout central and North Texas including the City of Austin’s People’s Gallery, Black Lagoon Gallery, and Mary Tomas Gallery. Dale was selected as Mary Tomas’ Gallery’s “Rising Star” in 2013. She received her BFA from The University of North Texas in 2010 and currently studies Architectural Metals & Ornamental Welding at Austin Community College.
ABOUT CLOUD TREE STUDIOS & GALLERY
Cloud Tree Studios & Gallery is located in East Austin in a vintage Quonset hut built in 1948. It has been a workshop to wood artist and manager of the space, Brian David Johnson since 2016. Prior to 2016, Beaman Metal Company operated out of the row of huts since the mid 70’s. Additional studios and a woodshop house local artists working in various mediums that contribute to the creative energy of the space.
