About the artist:

I am D.Y.   A nickname from some in my family and a stage name for my work, it is short for Dylan, which many also call me.

The artwork found here is a combination of technology, traditional media, and modern Celtic design. Creating a unique visual experience that bridges the past and future. With the use of pencil, paint, and paper, I create designs that can also be transferred to computer controlled devices like lasers and pen robots.

My style is characterized by vibrant colors, precise replication, and a keen attention to detail. The interlacing knot-work found in ancient insular Celtic art is the foundation for my inspiration. I weave intricate  patterns which allow images open to interpretation and multifaceted symbolism, reflecting both my heritage and a fascination with art, meaning, and the experience of beauty.

DY9 DESIGN is the umbrella title for all my creations.

The number 9 holds a special significance in that it represents both the mathematical nature of my work as well as symbolizing completion and inner/outer reflection. This perspective drives my artistic vision, guiding me to create balanced and harmonious compositions in response to the entropy of our universe. Inventing and observing these Celtic mandalas provides me a sense of calm and tranquility as only subjective beauty can.

There are also a few particular pieces mixed in which are a rawer expression of emotion. Feelings from the experiences of entropy and joy in living life and a counter to the ridged structure of precise balance. Reflecting both my duality and the duality of nature.

Fundamentally I seek to create art that speaks to the timeless human experience of discovering meaning, balance, and harmony. While also expressing a wide spectrum of emotions inevitable to the human condition.
